October 2020 President's Letter
President Roni Sasaki talks about our two award winners, Amy Loudenback and Terrie Cheung, two outstanding WEO members and business leaders in the Greater Vancouver area.
WEO loves to celebrate! We look for reasons to have a party. Every September, our monthly meeting is dedicated to honoring our board members and volunteers. We typically bring in an inspiring and entertaining speaker and do all we can to make this annual celebration special.
As with so many other events, our September gala looked a little different from previous years. And yet, we continued our tradition and honored those who have served. During this pandemic, WEO's leadership team stepped up and adapted to keep the meetings alive, create value, and continue to build connections within our organization. And they all deserve to be recognized.
I want to take full advantage of this president's letter to sing the praises of our two award winners this year. Amy Loudenback won the President's Award, and Terrie Cheung received the WEO Spirit Award.
The current president of WEO chooses the winner of the Ann Mason President's Award, named in honor of WEO's founding member and former president. I picked former president Amy Loudenback, because she continues to give her time and energy to WEO. Amy has been part of WEO's leadership for as long as I can remember. After her presidential term ended, she stepped into the marketing director's job, hoping to find a replacement before the summer of 2020. And then we got stuck in a pandemic, and Amy has never missed a beat.
Terrie Cheung was selected as the winner of the WEO Spirit Award by her peers. During the summer months, we accept nominations from WEO members for this honor. Terrie has served as the Membership Chair for the past two years. During this time, she has done an outstanding job growing our membership and growing her leadership skills. Terrie has diligently served at our check-in table during live meetings to welcome both guests and members.
WEO is a cumulative effort of many volunteers who make the organization run smoothly. As the current president, I am blessed and honored to be part of such an excellent team.
